Welcome our virtual home, where dogs are our best friends and our passion. We are relatively new to the breed, but we were blessed to start our adventure in the ridgeback world with wonderful dogs, and the help of great mentors. Our dogs are very special to us, and we consider them to be the furry members of our family who get to share the prime spot by the fireplace, and who accompany us on all family vacations not involving crossing an ocean. We stress the importance of health, temperament, function and soundness in our ridgebacks. Let us introduce ourselves.
I, Asta McCormick, share my RR passion with my daughter Gabrielle and we are owned by two ridgebacks – Isis and Dodo. Having grown up in Lithuania, I left Europe and relocated to the US a little over 10 years ago. We currently reside approximately 30 miles North of Chicago and thoroughly enjoy Midwestern living.
Rhodesian Ridgebacks are my biggest passion, and for me it goes hand in hand with photography. I love photographing almost anything, but I receive great pleasure trying to capture the many faces of our beloved breed – ridgebacks are so expressive! Our livernose girl Meile is co-owned and resides with Shody Lytle, Paige, Steve and her adoptive RR brother Leonidas on the central coast of California. Meile is our long-awaited special girl, who was imported from Luanda Kennels in Slovakia. Shody is very talented in graphic design and web design, and also enjoys photography. Here is a link to Shody’s design site. You can also see more of Shody work here, and phot0s here .
We are proud members of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the US, and we strictly abide by RRCUS Code of Ethics. I currently hold RRCUS treasurer’s position.
In 2008, I was asked by The Ridgeback Register magazine to write an article about my experience of owning ridgebacks who come from different continents, and about my adventures in converting from FCI to AKC "school of thought." Looking back at it, I can see how much has been learned and experienced since then, and I think I found that third world which I was looking for so desperately. It's called the next generation :)
